After the Ledger

Fourteen poems on caretaking, leaving, the lightness after, and the long way back to feeling alive.

A sequence about caretaking, leaving, and the strange lightness that comes after — about loving someone through their becoming, slowly disappearing into the holding of it, and the long road back to feeling like a person again.

I didn't write these for sympathy or a verdict. I wrote them to put down something I'd carried too long, and to find out what was left of me underneath.

Read them in order.

These poems touch on sexual assault, addiction, and mental illness.
